Hilton Head Heroes: This organization is dedicated to bringing children with lifethreatening illnesses and their families to
Hilton Head for cost-free resort vacations. Local families are needed as hosts. Call Carrie Holland at 671-9160 or contact
Hilton Head Heroes at 671-4939 for other opportunities.

American Red Cross: Volunteers are needed to learn how to respond to disasters as well as answer phones and help with office work. The office is located in Sheridan Park in Bluffton and serves Beaufort, Hampton and Jasper counties. Please contact the Palmetto Chapter at 757-7437.

ACCESS Network: Volunteers are needed to help with the food program, which provides groceries to families affected by HIV/AIDS in Beaufort and Jasper Counties. Office help is also needed. Call Stan at 681-2437, ext. 229.

Programs for Exceptional People: PEP needs volunteers to be friendly visitors, mentors and tutors for adults with developmental disabilities. We particularly need those who enjoy crafts and woodworking. Call Sonia or Debbie at 842-5523.

Children’s Relief Fund (CRF): CRF focuses on improving the lives of special-needs children by providing physical, occupational and speech therapy along with special equipment and a summer camp program. If you can help, call Rose Fotia at 681-7668.

Bargain Box: The Bargain Box on Hilton Head needs volunteers for sorting, pricing and selling donated items. All proceeds benefit non-profit organizations in Beaufort County. Call Edna Wilcher at 681-2601.

Caring Hearts: Help organize events, contact potential sponsors, and spread the word about this charity which provides assistance to medical caregivers in their time of need. Call Jackie Power, 837-3084 or Margie Anderson, 785-7582.

The Volunteer Center: This service of United Way of Beaufort County, Inc. recruits and refers volunteers to non-profit
organizations, matching your interest with a community need. Call 686-4361 or e-mail bethanym@unitedwaybeaufort.org.

Habitat for Humanity:Providing basic housing for those in need. Volunteers needed to help with construction and office work and to serve as committee members. Call 757- 5864. Volunteers are also needed at the Habitat Resale Store in Bluffton: truck drivers, workers to help with pricing, display, customer service and more. Call 757-9995

Literacy Volunteers of the Lowcountry: Thousands of adults in Beaufort County cannot read or speak English. Find out how you can help change their lives. Administrative opportunities also available. Call 686-6655.

Second Helpings: Food recovery and distribution organization operating in Hilton Head, Sun City and Beaufort. Rescued food is delivered to 64 charitable agencies who feed the less fortunate families in the Lowcountry. Call 689-3689.

Medical Transportation: Friends with Wheels, an outreach program of All Saints Episcopal Church, needs drivers to help
transport people to medical appointments as well as volunteers to take calls. Call Cathie at 681-8333.

Citizens Opposed to Domestic Abuse (CODA) The Beaufort Safe House for women and children needs volunteers to
work in the office and in areas such as legal advocacy and children’s programs. Call 770-1083.

South Carolina State Guard: Serve the community by joining the South Carolina State Guard. Public safety, public health and emergency preparedness are the three areas of emphasis. Call Major Bob Kort at 681-5787.

Volunteers in Medicine: Healthcare providers are needed in: dentistry, primary care/internal medicine, pediatrics, nutrition
and radiology (technicians). Also needed are a bilingual (English/Spanish) interpreter, nurse or counselor for mental health services program. Assistance provided for retired professionals in securing volunteer licensure and free liability coverage. Call 681-6612. Hospice Care of the Lowcountry: Talented administrative volunteers are needed for a variety of office tasks. Call Judy or Linda at 681-7814.

Meals-on-Wheels: This United Way agency helps those needing meals in the Southern Beaufort area. Volunteer drivers are needed and donations appreciated. Call 689-8334.

Child Development Center: Rock a baby, tutor a student or mentor a teenage mother. Contact Janice at the Okatie Academy and Child Development Center at 987-9111.

Spay and Neuter Clinic: Miracle Animal Rescue Spay & Neuter Clinic seeks volunteers: clerical workers, animal lovers, bookkeepers, accountants, vets & vet technicians, fundraisers & more. Call 227- DOGS.

Hilton Head Humane Association:
Volunteers are needed for office work, animal care, vet assistance, thrift shop help, fundraising and more. Call 681-8686.
