SCHULTE JOINS FREY MEDIA
Doug Schulte has joined Frey Media as the e-commerce/travel services coordinator for Golfer's Guide Marketing Solutions (GGMS). He manages the Golfer's Guide Tee Time system, coordinates golf show programs and handles marketing support for the GGMS call center. Schulte is a certified master teaching professional, previously playing on professional mini-tours and serving as director of golf at Governors Run Golf Club and Village in Illinois. He holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from McKendree College and a master's degree in industrial psychology/ PRHM from the Illinois Institute of Technology.

LIBERTY SAVINGS PROMOTES BORJA, HIRES CAPES, STARKES AND CHAPLIN
Jaclyn Borja has been promoted to service manager at Liberty Savings Bank's financial center at Belfair Towne Village. Most recently, Borja was a customer service representative at the Main Street financial center. She holds a degree in hospitality and tourism management from Purdue University. Jacqueline Capes has joined Liberty Savings Bank as a customer service representative at the financial center in Belfair Town Village. She recently moved here from Rockford, Illinois, where she worked as a medical records clerk. Kimberly Starkes is a customer service representative at the Lighthouse Rd. financial center in Sea Pines. Most recently, Starkes was an associate consultant for Relocation in Shelton, Conn. Monique Chaplin is a customer service representative at the Pope Ave. financial center. Most recently, Chaplin worked in the jewelry department at JC Penney. She holds a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Mercer University.

STETSON APPOINTED AT REGIONS BANK
Douglas E. Stetson has been appointed senior vice president and market president of Southern Beaufort County at the new Regions Bank of Carolina Lowcountry. Prior to joining Regions, Stetson was with Bank of America and Wachovia, combining for 22 years of banking experience. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and finance from the University of South Carolina.

MITCHELL CERTIFIED
Paul R. Mitchell, D.O., anesthesiology, has been certified as a diplomate by the American Board of Anesthesiology. The certification is valid for ten years. Dr. Mitchell received his doctor of osteopathic medicine from Ohio University and completed his residency and internship at Mt. Sinai Medical Center East and a cardiothoracic subspecialty tract from the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio.

REDFISH HIRES RUTTER AND DAVIDSON
Scott Rutter is the new executive chef at Redfish, coming here from the Vail Cascade Resort and Spa in Vail, Colorado. Rutter holds a degree in hotel restaurant management from Penn State University. He has extensive culinary experience
and a strong knowledge of wines. George Davidson is the new general manager. He has worked in the hotel industry for five years and managed properties in Pennsylvania and Florida. He is a PGA member with 20 years experience in the private club sector, including six years as a club manager and head golf pro.

LOWCOUNTRY NATIONAL BANK ADDS HOWAT
Elaine Howat has joined Lowcountry National Bank as mortgage loan officer for the new Bluffton/Hilton Head Island branch, located in the Moss Creek Village Shopping Center.

TILTON NAMED CHAIRMAN
Stephen B. Tilton has been named the new chairman of the board of directors and local state representative for the area for the Bluffton/Hilton Head March of Dimes. Tilton is the president of Tilton Group, a local building firm, and serves on several other community boards.

DABEK HIRED AT HEROES ON HORSEBACK
Mary Ann Dabek has been hired as the first executive director of Heroes on Horseback. Dabek earned a degree in therapeutic riding with a minor in psychology from St. Andrews Presbyterian College in Laurinburg, N.C.

KOPELCHECK ELECTED TO NATIONAL BOARD
Paul Kopelcheck, local SCORE volunteer, has been elected to the national board of directors of the Service Corps. of Retired Executives (SCORE) in Washington, D.C. Before retiring, Kopelcheck served as CEO of Acordia Benefits, executive vice president of Columbian Financial Group and vice president of marketing for Hartford Insurance.

OLMSTEAD ELECTED PRESIDENT
Bob Olmstead was recently elected president of the Chevron-Texaco Retirees Association, an independent association of retirees from Chevron-Texaco and its predecessor companies, including Gulf Oil. The association has over 100 chapters and over 16,000 members. Olmstead had 36 years of service with the company.

STORY JOINS DATAW ISLAND REALTY
Mike Story has been named vice president of sales and marketing for Dataw Island Realty. Story began his real estate career in 1985 with Hilton Head Plantation Real Estate Company before starting his own real estate consulting company in 1995. Most recently, he served as sales manager for Carolina Marketing Associates of South Carolina and as director of sales for Heyward Pointe.

MEDICAL CENTER AUXILIARY INSTALLS OFFICERS

ANNOUNCES BOARD OF REGENTS
Leadership Hilton Head/ Bluffton has announced members of the 2003-2004 board of regents. Members are: Sue James, Nathaniel Jones, Kathleen Bateson, Barbara Clark, Frank DeTurris, Jr., Dick Farmer, Angie Greenfield, Judy Haupt, Allen Herd, Michael Martin, Allen Richardson and Charles Young, III.

AWARDS AND CONFERENCES
Tom Jenkins, Dick Datz and Norma Jenkins of Gateway Realty have received the Hilton Head Island Association of Realtors Distinguished Sales Award for achieving at least $5 million each in sales in 2002. Paul Kopelchek, SCORE volunteer on Hilton Head Island, has been elected to the national board of directors of the Service Corps of Retires Executives (SCORE) in Washington, D.C. Connie Farmer Ray, owner of Coldwell Banker Greater Savannah Realty, was recognized as the Honorable Mention Small Business of the Year by the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce. Amy Hunt, personal lines marketing manager at Coastal Plains business Insurance, has been designated Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) following completion of a rigorous educational program sponsored by the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors. Robert Slusser of Beaufort was presented the Direct Service Volunteer award for his 24 years of service with the Literacy Volunteers of the Lowcountry in a ceremony held at the State House in Columbia. Hilton Head Island has been named one of this year's top restored beaches by the American Coastal Coalition (ACC). The town was chosen because its comprehensive beach management plan, which uses beach renourishment, has proven itself over a significant period of time. Peggy Edwards, Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) director of communications, received the Apex award for magazine and journal writing for the Sept./Oct. issue of TennisPro magazine. Angie Coyle, art director of the PTR publication TennisPro, earned a design and illustration award in the contents category for her work in the Nov./Dec. issue. Sharon R. Stahl, director of The Island Funeral Home and Crematory of Hilton Head Island and Okatie, SC, has recently been awarded the designation of Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP) by the Academy of Professional Funeral Service. The Hilton Head Marriott Beach and Golf Resort has received three prestigious accolades for 2003: Four-diamond rating from the American Automobile Association, Gold Key Award from Meetings and Conventions magazine and Pinnacle Award from Successful Meetings magazine.
